  • I grew up watching the Charlie Chan series of films and now at age 60 I can really relate to Charlie's wisdom. Thank you for uploading these great film classics.

  • yellowface smellowface Oland looked more Chinese than a lot of the Chinese who grade the screen these days, in fact kind of regal looking, as for stereotypes, hell they were all sterotypes then including mr yep Gary Cooper in his early westerns and Scarlett o haras southern belles these are just better movies than they make these days, really stupid stuff they are making now, one step above porn with a string of four letter words purporting to be dialog

  • @doctornoooo you were saying what I was trying to get out in a gentler way perhaps, I agree with you 100 percent.

Oland was 1/4 Chinese and that is a fact, but no mater his bloodline percentage he was the definitive Chan in my opinion, his authenticity and dignity in his portrayal was regal indeed and Asians flocked to his movies and bestowed great honour upon him when he visited China, he was accepted as one of China's own great sons!

  • @SuperSupersensei Thank you so very much may you be blessed SAME and ten times more for your kindness and warm regards over my humble upload of great films from the golden days of early movie mystery done well! Chan was play with a dignity and respect by man who was not doing yellow-face as some claim as Warner Olands own ancestors on his fathers side before immigrating to Sweden were Russian Chinese from the Mongolian Province.

  • warner oland was swede but of Mongolian decent hence his Asian features

  • @usermikes you ain't kidding, canceled my dish, and been watching this stuff, from old game shows to old shows

  • I love these old Charlie Chan movies, and all the other old mysteries on youtube..I haven't watch TV now for a couple of months...Everything I like is right here...

  • Warner Oland and Keye Luke had an undeniable superb chemistry. When Lee runs to embrace his father upon seeing Chan's alive, I feel like reaching for a tissue to wipe away the tears. It's one of the best scenes in the movie.

  • from wich year are this serieS=

  • one million thanks for posting!!

  • I loved this series!

Maybe Oland wasn't Chinese, but who cares!

    The hell with "PC".

Oland gave the character dignity and respectability.

Maybe some one will air some of the Mr. Moto series - and I don't mean the "PD" film.

A German Jew playing a Japanese? Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • These movies bring back special times...so many rainy saturday afternoons of long ago, experiencing the hardships and the romance of the 1930's through my mother's memories, and absorbing her love of the films of her youth. Keye Luke was such a classy, talented gentleman, an artist as well as actor, with that core of sincerity and that dazzling smile. Thank you for bringing us these gems.

  • Warner Oland taught himself how to speak Chinese, according to his biography.
