From the Zondervan Bible Dictionary: Death by strangulation was not a form of capital punishment used in Bible times. Where the word is found in scripture, except in the two cases of suicide (I disagree with this, but does show that Biblical Hangings did not use a rope) by hanging 2 Sam 17:23 & Matt 27:5, it refers to the suspension of a body from a tree or post..... This is exactly what Judas did he dove off the cliff onto the trees headfirst and his guts spilled out on the ground.

Well that's not exactly apples to apples. When you are referring to the law. Things are different for legal transactions compared to illegal transactions. Of course we need to go by the law back then.

@pgfracing It says he hanged himself...it doesnt say he impaled himself. And if you want to use some nonsensical semantics to justify this obvious contradiction why dont you move on and answer the contradiction on who bought the field...or are you sticking with the old christian comeback: " it was technically his money"....lol

@pdog781 or how about you show me one scripture that shows me a rope was used? If you look at King Darius decree. It was Darius practice to impale people. If you are impaled on a pole you are hung above the ground on the pole. This was the way it was done back then. It is confirmed in our secular history books written from that time. I believe it was Herodutos that wrote the book.

@pgfracing 4And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him--- Biblical hanging? Please send me the scripture that sctually say " Biblical hanging is does not include a rope....but it means to be thrown down onto a tree....

The truth shall set you free. Read Esther 6:4 it explains what a Biblical hanging is. It means to be thrown down onto a tree down below, or steak, or pillar. It did not include a rope.
Job 8:11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
The way you are thinking flag must mean flag it can't mean something else because that is the word used. It actually means grass. Just like hanged means impaled, because when you are impaled you are hanging above the ground.

@pgfracing wrong I am comparing one scripture that says he hung himself...if you want to believe it says impaled then fine doesnt change the fact that in another scripture it says he fell head first and his guts burst open. That same scripture says he bought a field before he died. The first scripture says he gave away the money then killed himself. At the point of his death in this scripture no field was bought. Yet in Acts he is alive when the field was bought...that is the contradiction

If you are impaled on something you are hanging above the ground. That is why the word says hanged. As for the field, Judas did not buy it personally, it was bought in his name, therefore one can say he bought it. Just like if your grandma bought you a car with your money. You bought the car even though she is the one who did the transaction.

@pgfracing According to your logic....if I throw 50 dollars into your house....then you take that fifty dollars and go and buy drugs I AM the one who can be charged with buying the drugs not you.--The law would say thats bullshit just like your argument
