  • 4:11 The Duke of Windsor was Governor of the Bahamas from 1940 to 1945 so is it possible this footage is earlier than the 1950s?

  • Yes, you are right. I have changed it to 1940's.

  • i want all of these on DVD????, why aren't we showing this in our schools

  • If the Duke of Windsor was in this footage as the Royal Governor, this is about 65+ years old!!! A lot has changed now, its nothing like this today!!!! Lisbon was the port of departure during WWII to the United States through Bermuda!!!!!!

  • I'm reading all these comment about how dirty Nassau is yes the buildings are old but the place in not dirty and full of trash, the people says that have never been here

  • I just returned from there,WOW what a disappointment. Before 1973 it was under british rule. Now the place is complete mess, Paradice Island is well kept, I cant understand how an island 24 miles long and 7 miles wide could be completely covered in trash. SAD

  • @wA7racer I agree on repairing the old buildings in Nassau (Down Town area). I also agree that we as a people can be more social cohesion but not just in New Providence but the enitre Bahamas, no matter the color, or social status. Dirty, drab & unkept, ????? you need everyone to show pride in there Bahama Land (Bahamians) and ESPECIALLY the foreigners. Some of whom bring there nasty way of life here and live it out, they too help keep this Island they call home DIRTY,DRAB & UNKEPT.

  • @Rashadwilliam I agree with you 100%

  • No place like the Bahamas ..... my beautiful islands. I can see why (sum) of other nationals run here, can t get enough of dat sun sea and sand baby. I love this old clip, enlightment on alot of old beautiful sights back then. I agree they should show these clips and more in our Schools to show our children from where they came from.....love it.

  • @bahaboy89 false statement

  • @laddydaddy it's just a child taking a bath...you just HAD to bring race into it didn't you?

You will never progress if you don't loose that massive chip on your shoulders...get a life man...

  • The difference between Nassau then & today is that it is no longer ORDERLY & CLEAN. Unfortunately it is now, dirty, drab & unkept.

Clean the streets & sidewalks, repair the damaged decaying old buildings, give evrything a coat of paint & see what a difference it makes.

Nassau today has no social cohesion. No-one is doing anything about it. Everybody waiting for someone else to act.

Better do something befors Cuba opens up.

  • I enjoyed watching most of this clip, but the portion at 19:10 ( with little naked kid ) could have been deleted. But it goes to show how they valued us, i guess

  • Thanx uploader, for this bit of history
