Released about 1944 as part of a Capitol Records History of Jazz record album compilation. Performed by Jay McShann's Kansas City Stompers with vocals by Julia Lee. This song was a great hit and launched Julia Lee's solo career. Pretty good bluesy tune. Recorded in 1944. Enjoy!

  • I don't know who the trumpeter is but it has shades of Buck Clayton or Hot Lips Page

  • Oliver Todd was the trumpeter. Lots of info about him online.

  • Nice...

  • Super! Thanks for putting this on.

  • In Jay McShann you've got ragtime and stride roots together with the Kansas City boogie-woogie tinged blues style--unique blend

  • Dig this vintage tune—classic dopeness.

  • Good song & clean disc. This is the earliest Julia Lee vocal I've heard.
