When white trash folk have mullets, it's because they spend too much time in jail to keep up-to-date on more current hair trends. So really, the mullet is a cross-stereotype hairstyle.

Well, any of them may. In hillbillies, the mullet usually results from the extensive time b/t haircuts. My dad & brother only get their hair cut once a year, after hunting season (longer hair helps when you're spending days in the snow). By that time, it's starting to look a little mullet-y.
