We came across this 3-toed sloth trying to cross a busy road in Costa Rica. As we were unsure whether it would bite or scratch with the front claws, we picked it up by the back legs and carried it over the road. It was only when it climbed up a fence post on the other side that we saw it had a beautiful baby clinging around its waist.

  • 10,000 thank yous for helping her. It is a herculean task for her to walk with a baby clinging to her. Sloths don't come down from trees unless forced to do so. They cannot walk easily--they are built for hanging and climbing. When the forests are thinned, they are the first to suffer for it.

  • THANKS.

For saving the sloth I love them <3

    SRSLY.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for doing this. These animals are so extremely slow, that crossing a normal road will mean an almost certain death. Unless of course, people like you help them. In the Netherlands we have special tunnels and bridges for animals to cross highways (that cross natural routes of animals). Too bad it's an impossible task doing the same in countries where animals need crossings like that much more.

Ain't it weird that people are animals biggest enemies AND saviors at the same time?

  • Awww you did the right thing! =)

  • because you help sloths.. you're a loving person.. then i will subscribe and favorite this.. :)
