DHUSKA is a popular form of traditional (folk) song and dance in Uttarakhand, especially during mela (kotik). The song and dance is always accompanied by 'HURRKA' played with bare hand while moving with dancers. This video was recorded at the Daranti Kotik, Munsyari on 28th September 2009.

  • What is the song about?

  • @brseavey

Sorry for delay. I had not seen it for long.

The song & dance contains part of two songs. In 1st part, a female tells her friend, Hiru, let us go to foot hills from this higher mountain. In 2nd part, a male fella tells a female, Kaushyala, come with me to Dharchula (a better town) in my vehicle. These lines are sung alternately by male and female in that order.
