I don't think i've heard violin in classic rock, but i like listening to it in today's more edgy stuff. classic rock has plenty of piano, though. the singer and the piano tie just about. ever heard linkin park's "what i've done"? i love that song (partly because it has piano).

violins give the song something special. after that it's a good piano tune. then a singer that knows how to sing well.

Would have thought a singer would come first-but a unique sound like a violin can add something, but I've not heard it used much in rock songs.

i agree. they are a really good band. i love their songs with violins, though. i'm a violin addict, even though i can't play one.

No idea, they're a band that you like most everything--Savior, Comatose, Imperfection, Whispers in the Dark are some of the better ones, but I like so many others....
