I always loved the idea that Ra'as Al Ghul was one of the few villains to know that Bruce Wayne is Batman, but always respected his secrecy. Not to mention, he's one of the few villains who could beat Batman given he taught him the moves in the first place.

Bruce believe the Ras he killed was the real Ras, he thought Ducard who came to his prison and trained him to be a guy like him who had found his true path hence why he saved his life, but at this party it's revealed Ducard was a mask just like Bruce is for Batman, and the guy who he killed was just a fake stand in and illusion.
