@CharlieAndRonnie ...1985 to the present.

@DENo1MatchGameFan 1. At least Wiki does SOME right things. 2. Actually, SIMH WAS; otherwise, RCA would've released another song to country simultaneously ("Prisoner of the Highway" b/w "She Loves My Car"). 3. According to Ronnie on one of his podcasts, BOMS went #5. Why didn't it go #1? Similar to the drastic rock influence in SIMH, that was all synths. Country radio disliked no real players. (I don't care for them, except from RM & crew; that said, it's better than the pop songs on radio...

@CharlieAndRonnie I agree that this information came from the booklet for "The Ultimate Ronnie Milsap", as it states that on Wiki. I know that "She Loves My Car" wasn't aimed at country radio, but apparently neither was "Stranger In My House" due to all of the backlash it got for being as pop as it was. Also, if you listen to Ronnie's remake of Paul Carrack's song "Button Off My Shirt", there isn't one thing country about it, yet it hit #4 on the charts in '88 - go figure!

@CharlieAndRonnie Cont. It broke some barriers though. "Shameless," on the other hand, was a more countrified cover which WAS aimed at country radio. 3. Regarding the legend part, if you ask Ronnie, he'd say that he's no legend. George Jones, Merle Haggard, etc. are.

@DENo1MatchGameFan 1. Actually, it's according to the liner notes as written in the booklet/front cover of the compilation "Ultimate Ronnie Milsap." They (Wikipedia) don't even mention his pre-1973 singles in his discography on their site. 2. "She Loves My Car was an all-out rock song no matter how one puts it. It wasn't aimed at the country music market. The video was aimed solely at MTV to win over the pop market. For a time, in fact, MTV was the only channel allowed to play it.

@isitrealgood Of course back then, they wouldn't even touch his "She Loves My Car" song, and it crossed over to the pop charts at #84, but with Garth Brooks covering Billy Joel and such, they have no problem with it - a bunch of BS and hypocrisy if you ask me! Ronnie Milsap is a legend, and yet they won't even TOUCH his music today!
-
@DENo1MatchGameFan I know! That's where I read it, as preposterous as it sounds. How many country music radio programmers even LISTENED to Led Zeppelin, or did they just say, "Oh, no, loud ee-lectric GIT-ar! We can't play this ... this... HARD ROCK business!"
-
@isitrealgood According to Wikipedia it is, and that's what kept it for being a #1 country hit for Ronnie in the process!
to bad he cant see, he could shoot the bitch

I got your reply in my e-mail honestbutugly and I'd appreciate it if you didn't dictate to me or try to tell me what I like and don't like,when you don't even know me.I can't stand Country & Western and that's all there is to it.I HATE IT. It's just that I don't consider Ronnie Milsap and Kenny Rogers Country & Western.I consider them love song singers or slow contemporary.You telling me what I like and feel and not even knowing me,sounds very ludacrous.NOTHING PERSONAL,I TELL IT LIKE IT IS!!
