The infamous song by Henry Olonga, Our Zimbabwe. This is the English version. The Shona version and Ndebele version are also available:

Ndebele: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ff3yaLmXtQI

Shona: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Up8tx832k

This land our land, is our Zimbabwe, a land of peace for you and me.
Once born in pain and segregation but now we live in harmony.

Now flies the flag, our nation's glory, we'll live with pride inside our hearts
As we all stand to build our nation, this is our land, our Zimbabwe.

Though I may go to distant borders, my sould will yearn for this my home
For time and space may separate us and yet she holds my heart alone.

Now flies the flag, my nation's glory, I'll live with pride inside my heart.
I'll make a stand to build my nation, this is my land, my Zimbabwe.

Now flies the flag our nation's glory, we'll live with pride inside our hearts
As we all stand to build our nation, this is our land, our Zimbabwe.

We've been through it all, we've had our days, we've had our falls
Now the time has come for us to stand, to stand as one.

The night has gone and with the morning come rays of hope that lead us on
So we will strive to give our children a brighter day where they belong.

  • Why are Zimbabweans fighting?

    I am Pakistani.

Why don't you unite and fight the person you hate the most whoever it is?

Your opressors want you to fight so that you never rise.

Mugabe is the father of the nation. But he has clinged onto power. It's gone too far now. I don't know. I am not Zimbabwean but why fight. Why judge people by the colour of their skin. Why not stand together not as black, mixed race or whites but stand as Zimbabweans because that's what you are Zimbabweans.

    Unite

  • @juddylovespizza I am Zimbabwean, and this is not any propaganda. You should have been polluted by the Internet stuff. Yea, we have our problems in Zimbabwe, but it is still our beautiful nation, and we are it's proud citizens. You do not stop bragging about your mother because she is sick. Though Zimbabwe has been economically and politically sick, we still believe it will be fine. It can only get better.

  • I am very sad to see the hateful comments noted here as this is the reason Zimbabwe is in its current state. I was born in Rhodesia & grew up in Zimbabwe but never noticed the colour of the kids I went to school with & befriended & am still friends with today. We once lived in peace & harmony, why cant we now? I return annually to visit my country & try to help those less fortunate especially children who are now homeless and struggling to survive through no fault of their own...very sad

  • I'm from Zimbabwe and proud :)

  • IF U DONT COME FROM ZIMBABWE OR HAVE LIVED THERE DONT SAY FUCK ALL

  • i wish this our National Anthem... i would sing it with so much joy and pride :)

  • @mydiybox why are you getting involved, go fix pakistan first

  • @mydiybox ooohh my word, just read your comment and i wish people would do just that, but any zimbabwean who jumps on the whole 'lets move on' wagon is dismissed as being a hypocrite or a sell out by the political extrimists in zimbabwe. If a zimbabwean came forward and suggested overlooking race, overlooking differences and fighting for the lift of sanctions they will be accused of working for the westerners, which of course is completetly absurd because how long are we gonna fall behind :(

  • @stepharnos Arguably, yes, but it wasn't exactly utopia back then either.

  • I don't understand why this song was labelled "infamous"...its beautiful! There are no political connotations here...

  • Can I ask when this song was released?

  • Whenever I hear this song it makes me cry, I think of the state our country is in. It shouldn't be that way we have a beautiful land and we should be able to live in it in peace and harmony!!!
