No Hard Drive, No Fan. Silent Computing!

iBook SE PowerPC G3 - 366MHz, OS X Panther, 576 MB RAM

The boot drive is a Photofast G-Monster 533X SLC 8GB Flash Card, in a CF-IDE Hard Drive Adapter from Addonics Technologies.

If you ever wondered how fast a PowerPC Macintosh will boot from a solid state disk, this is for you.

  • 1. How much was the flash drive.

    2. What is the read/write time.

    3. Does the flash card require any additional battery back up.

    Thanks :)

  • @helicoptered The 8GB Photofast boot card was about $140, the 16GB card was $60, and the adapter was about $20. Not sure about the read/write speed, have not measured it. At least at fast as a harddrive. And it needs no battery.

  • 266? Says 366 in your discription. ???

  • This G3 chip is 366 MHz
