The QOTSA line-up from the Rated R album pop-rock the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on May 24, 2001. I was moving forward in the audience with the vidcam and missed the first verse, but they sound pretty tight. Vocalist Mark Lanegan can inject intensity and soul into just about any song you throw at him. (With permission from Interscope Records. Photo pass and documentation available)

  • "Vocalist Mark Lanegan can inject intensity and soul into just about any song you throw at him. (With permission from Interscope Records)"

  • @VurdaTV Thanks for noticing. I wrote that myself since you brought it up. I used to freelance for Interscope as a copywriter putting together press kits for bands, so it wasn't a huge stretch to come up with.

  • anyone know who's drumming?

  • Gene Trautmann is the drummer.

  • who is the singer ???

i allways thought that josh is the singer from qotsa ?

  • Mark Lanegan, the singer from the Seattle band, Screaming Trees. Lanegan is a very successful solo artist too and his excellent voice is always in demand and he works a lot.

  • Gene Trautman is so fuckin tight on those drums...

  • I'd say this is probably the best QOTSA lineup

Either this or the power trio of Homme/Oliveri/Hernandez

  • @futuremarkets but nick was very entertaining, they were great together, troy seems like a nice guy but he's really not a funny guy

  • @Teuchterdavie oliveri is overrated. alain / mikey have been better in qotsa and reeder was better in kyuss

  • Gene's killing it behind those drums!

  • Lanegan has an amazing voice, all smoke, gravel and honey, and his career should have gone farther. He's not a great song writer on his own, though. He makes a great match with these guys.

  • To me, watching Josh play guitar is porn.

  • @Teuchterdavie nice, i would never guess. gonna check it out rite now

  • @usninjacrew they were a power trio at the 1998 Bizarre festival. one of the few times that they must have played as a trio before Dave Catching joined. If you haven't seen the videos then you should check it out, it's cool to see them in their fledgling gigs, such a raw sound. Also, Josh's shirt is just immense haha

  • @Teuchterdavie even though Queens would NEVER work as a power trio, i agree with you that the formation of this video is fuckin awesome. Is hard to say the best, cuz both Troy and Castillo kick ass, but this one is for sure one of the most powerfull.
