PLEASE READ

It feels so good to be back in swing of things! This is based on the 1997 movie version of the amazing book Lolita. If you read it, you would understand that it isn't "gross" or "sick" or "pornographic", rather poetic and really, a classic. I am not abandoning all morals just because I enjoy Vladmir's book. :)

Basically, Humbert Humbert is really old and Lolita Carmencita is really young and Humbert marries Lolita's (real name being Dolores) mother NOT because he wants to sneak into Little Lo's bedroom at night, rather because Lo's mother asked him and he had become close to Lo even before the marriage. When Lo's mom dies of a car accident, Humbert takes her out to a hotel for a treat, and LOLITA, LOLITA, NOT HUMBERT, does a little seducing. So now they're traveling around the United States: a middle aged shy author and a loud, obnoxious, passionate 12 year old. How's that for a synopsis?

:) Rate and comment please! I apologize for the glitches here and there.

This song is "Stars" by Tatu. Here is the translated version of the Russian rap: (it's rough because it's a direct translation. I tried to edit it a bit to make it make sense. :D)

I'm a star, you're a star.
We were ordered to burn down.
Someone gave away, and got
The addresses of our meetings.
Eyes on the ceiling,
And nobody will find.
The voices will slip,
And the ice will crush.
And it everyone has a key,
To what we crave in bed
And it is time to run away,
And they are at our heels.
(you) Smile, throw,
the curtains and the mirrors,
tear then up and say,
dead, dead .
(You) Lock or choose to
become nothing.
My hand doesn't tremble.
Nothing is right with my head
And my hand may avenge
2x2
on the taxi and (you) suck.
Never forgiving you, never.
Never ask me for it.
OK, OK
I found the revenge
Take everything I have
And multiply by 6
Don't call me, don't call me
I am tired, I am tired
I don't want you
I am so annoyed with you.

  • By far one of the best books ever written...

  • Completely unexpected, didn't expect such a movie, looks like a really good movie despite the concept.

  • I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of the time you took to translate the Russian :D Splendid vid, and thanks also for including bits of dialogue--just added to its awesomeness, imo!

  • They really should have used a properly-aged female for either of the movies. She was 12 to begin with. And of course the book is incredibly better than either movie, considering how much more we get out of Humbert in the book.

  • u can just tell he loves her by the way he looks at her...beautiful <3

  • hi ladysaw are you still with this man - just curious if it still works .....

  • In short, he played a part in the seduction as well. Though I absolutely love the character in an odd way, he had some ill intentions as well. He DOES want to sneak into Lo's room. :)

  • I really like the video. This book is one of my favorites, mainly because I picture Jeremy Irons and that makes H.H. seem so much more attractive than he probably was ;) But I just want to argue one thing about your sypnosis...Humbert wasn't that innocent. He had become practically obsessed with Lo shortly after he met her, and he fantasized about killing her mother to run off with Lo. Though McFate dealt with these problems, H.H. probably would have acted on them on his own sooner or later.

  • whats the song called?
