Played by Martha Argerich, live at the Chopin Competition 1965.

I have put this up before but for some reason (I'll say it was late and I was tired), I used a French flag, so decided to put matters straight and do it with the proper Polish flag!

  • So, in amusement I timed the different pianists. These are just averages. Argerich for example slowed down quite a bit at the finish, purposely. These are averages for notes per second.

    Lisitsa 10.45....Pollini 10.75...Chen 11.55...Argerich 12.11...Freddie Kempff 12.35...Cziffra 12.48 Watch those fingers fly. LOL

Actually, I prefer Pollini best anyway, but Argerich's playing at the fastest parts must have been very close to Cziffra (with better clarity). They are all wonderful pianists.

  • Beautiful rendition....confident, clean, defiant

  • Ho dubbi sulla veridicità di questo video: se la registrazione risale al '65 mi pare troppo nitida.

  • it amazes me to see how some people don't know how to appreciate argerich, it's amazing when we listen to music, what some people can hear others simply cannot, as if they are color blind -- i don't think those people are picky or critical, i think they simply can't register the stuff that amazes others.

  • wrong note at 1:02, wrong note at 1:29. Great performance!

  • WOW this is amazing. I like how she plays it as if she is just focused on the left hand.

  • @indescribable23music It's from an album I picked up in a Notting Hill record shop some years ago. It's a combined recording, Argerich at the 1965 Chopin competition and Maurizio Pollini at the 1960 competition. The sound was taken straight off of the record onto a stereo to mp3 converter.

  • @utubuser10 Don't insult Argerich please

  • Perfect! the notes, the tempo, clean, musical, everything good is joined here

  • Pollini's the best, but keep in mind that this was live, not remastered time after time..

  • she's like the yuja wang of yesterday!

  • @robertslistening Music is not a time or speed question!
