In 1965, Channel 29 signed on as WIBF-TV. It was owned by the Fox brothers, William, Irwin, and Benjamin, hence the call letters. They also owned the 103.9 FM frequency which was WIBF-FM. Channel 29 was the first commercial UHF station in Philadelphia, later of course, becoming WTAF and then WTXF.
Early on, the station had signal problems, broadcasting from the Benson East Apartments in Jenkintown.
This is a recording of an actual on-air cha-cha-cha-style jingle that the station used as its legal ID. I recorded it on a reel-to-reel tape recorder and this audio may be all that remains of the old WIBF-TV. There are next to no mentions of it at all on the Web that I've found.
The logo here is a recreation from memory. For sure I remember the oval structure and the elongated 29 font. I can't recall the font of the call letters and city, so I've just left it in a plain Arial font.
Ironic that today, another Fox - Fox Television Stations - now owns Channel 29.
