Koels mating call

You can hear the mating calls of the Koels in this video. Koels mating calls become noisy as summer approasches (breeding season). The keek.. keek call sound belongs to female Koel and the Koou..koou... call sound belongs to male Koel.

Hey, im doing a study on koels . Are u sure u recorded this before summer? Or any idea if they show this behavior during other seasons. Because I observed the very exact behavior today (obviously, summer is very far away)

Oh and yeah...im in Chennai too.:)

@dockmsh Hi, My best wishes for your study on Koels. You can hear the noisy  matting calls and singing calls during summer just before mansoon season (South west mansoon) starts. It indicates that rain will come after few days. I have obseved this for several years. Generally most of these birds breading season starts before mansoon season (South west mansoon).Some may be exempted.
