I hate when the comments stray away from the topic and start getting political (although I do have to say 'bravo' to Warpath2198 for his comment. It made me lol). As an American, I admire the beauty of this aircraft. I don't care how much it costs, or what brand of quality management the manufacturer uses. It's simply a beautiful plane. Kudos to Airbus, and to Europe as a whole.

The US manufactures more goods in DOLLAR VALUE - absolutely NOT in absolute numbers, that is China. EU as a unit had a larger GDP than the US in 2009 as per CBO estimates. You do know the CBO is US government entity, do you?

The US manufactures very little goods in fact. It just charges a much higher price for them - in fact per purchasing power, China and the EU have both passed the US in terms of economic output.

You don't feed a lot of the planet - most of your export is industrial feed to other OECD countries. The myth that the US feeds a lot of the planet is just that - a myth.

You will default technically - basically infaltion will run at 20% a year and anyone with dollars will lose.

The US exports software, weapons, aircraft and inflation. You have nothing else that's price competitive on a world stage any more. Considering your continual deficits and debt increases, you will have to undergo some form of default in the next four years. Of course it won't be a Greek style one; more like the 1979 stagflation started by massive devaluation of the dollar.
