@alexhaskett That's cool, dude. I think it takes a certain amount of intelligence to say you respect a band even if they're not what you're into personally.

@thejesman Yeah, dude. One-Eyed Doll sounds amazing, and I remember seeing the lead singer in Guitar World when she got endorsed by Tregan Guitars. The underground scene is where it's at, nearly all the main stream metal bands are pretty much selling out and overproducing (Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, being an exception.) The music world just isn't anything it should be...

@thejesman Ha that was great. I kinda knew she'd be outlandish live and I like that. I also like the music 'cause her voice is so innocent but the guitar and drums will kick your ass.

@mshadowsboy Oh dude, You're a Vampire's just the tip of the iceberg. Try clicking the first link in the info box.

I listened to You're A Vampire. I really liked it, it's metal, but it has poppy lyrics, you might be very well onto something...
Just to retort to your first question, "Why can't there be a big important band today?" Today's generation isn't a "band" generation. There are world famous artists today such as Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa, etc. Those artists fame today well surpasses that of the Beatles or any other band today. That's the music of this generation, and my personal opinion is, I don't think any band today could surpass their fame.

@Mahoneyisamazing Lol, I hear what you're saying, but I can't agree that those people's fame surpass the Beatles. That shit was revolutionary back then, those pop stars are just something to listen to. Really, I don't even think they're THAT popular, the music industry just wants us to think they are. Today's generation isn't necessarily a band generation right now, but I think it could be if we work at it. Change has to happen somehow.

@thejesman Oh, nooooo, nobody can surpass the Beatles as being one of the most influential groups of all time. But the generation TODAY has nearly no idea about the Beatles. If you walk up to a modern day music fan from todays generation and ask them their favorite Beatles song, they probably won't have an answer. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry alone are more famous than any of todays musical artists or bands. When you top the Billboard Top 200 nearly every year, you've got to be going somewhere.

@Mahoneyisamazing Hm, I don't know about that. I know a ton of young people that love the Beatles. I mean, the way I look at it, the music industry's on its death bed. Their main guys right now are popular mostly cause that's what the people are being fed. All those stars almost have more people hating them than loving them. I question how relevant all those billboards and stuff are going to be in the future.

@thejesman Well the Billboard Top 200 is based solely on record sales. You just might now be aware how big the pop/modern music scene is today. It's flourishing with new artists every day, let alone the metal scene of the world, which is nearing overpopulation. Music is all a matter of choice, and most people today choose those pop stars.

@Mahoneyisamazing Hm, that may be true, I try to stay away from that world as much as possible. I know I can count the number of actual Justin Bieber fans I've met on two or three fingers, but I meet classic rock fans almost everyday. I dunno, it just seems to me that that whole thing's dying out. It only really looks good when you compare it with itself. I agree with what you said about the metal scene though. The more underground music stuff is where I'm at right now.
