on the original broadcast, in Australia, we had the same UK hosts and that suicide hotline thing on the bottom of the screen as well.
Imagine sad people dialing that number, getting a "your call could not be connected" lady talking and then promptly shooting their brains out.

And and Dec were broadcast as the hosts of the show in every English speaking country except for Canada (for whatever reason). Canada and all non-English countries used their own hosts.

@CarsonBeckettFan I don't think that's the reason....the whole supposed point of this show is to find good singers as well as be a competition...World Idol just found a winner from amongst the other winners who are already meant to be good if they won their own version, and so it was purely a competition. Hence there's no point in it.

The phone number is a support line for those who may feel depressed or suicidal. The show aired at Christmas, and a lot of people feel that way around the holidays.
