Cut Yourself A piece of Cake by Lyman's California Ambassador Orchestra on Brunswick 2476B from 08/02/1923. Played on my home-made Orthophonic Victrola. Mechanics are all parts bought on eBay, cabinet/horn home made by me based on measurements from an ebay auction and various diagrams/photos from the web. Let me know what you think, sounds pretty good to me but I've never heard an Orthophonic in person.

  • This is NOT an orthophonic record (1923) so it is not surprising that it is somewhat metallic sounding. An acoustic record like this won't sound that much better on an orthophonic machine vs. an acoustic machine. I have this record too, I love that weird instrument near the end that sounds like a kitty cat singing or something, very funny! Thanks for posting.

  • Great sound and machine! Same with your home-made outside-horn machine!

  • Very good sound, but it has more metalic sound than the real Orthophonic machines. Thanks for posting this anyway.
