I rode that line when I was in Chicago last year. We stayed at Schaumburg.

There's one of the old Metra cars. I use to really like them, they were so pretty. I would like to know whatever happened with them because I've heard that the light-gray cars with red/blue striping that I've seen repeatedly over the past few years are from the 1980s, and I was wondering if they were the white ones with the red/black striping, but got a new paint job.

The crossing starting at 3:35 is the Elmwood Park (Grand Ave) crossing where there was a huge accident between a Metra train and about 20 cars six years ago.

Thanks. We boarded the train near Schaumburg which is northwest of the city, maybe 20 miles or so. I believe we were riding on BNSF rails.

that's great, i rode that line a lot of times. you caught a security announcement (they always played it before western av station) but you can barely hear it. anyways, thanks for the video :)
