National Coming Out Day 2011

Why is it important to support National Coming Out Day? For our LGBTQ youth that are struggling with bullying and acceptance from their families and friends. To help them have the courage to own who they are. To be an example to these very impressionable kids.

I am bi. And out to 0 people close to me. I have had a long distance relationship with a guy but in private. I want to come out and let people know that I am bi, but I also don't. The only gay kid at my school gets treated like crap. And the 2 lesbians get treated like crap to. I don't want that. My Dad was "joking" around and said "If you ever turn gay, don't come home." But he really meant it. Is there any advice on how I should tell my parents and tell the people at school?

@OneLaneRoadAhead I cant give you advice on that because the best thing for you to do is stay in the closet until you get in high school. the most important person to come out to is yourself and that is the first step to your future please fee free to reach out to us if you need a friend.

I'm 13 and out to 4 people.

But one of those people (my best friend) keeps calling me "faggot" and "gayboy" as a joke - I want to ask him to stop but I don't want him to think I'm too sensitive...

Help?

(P.S. one of the people I came out to is now my boyfriend, yay!)

@EpicZombiePanda First HUG for being so brave at such a young age...More then likely he doenst know that the names bug you...Tell him that they bug you and ask him to stop. If he doesnt then he isnt your friend...And its better to know now then later.

Loved this video. Gives me hope that one day I'll find the strength to be true to myself and not have to hide my sexuality. I've recently started the coming out process and I can't believe how hard this is...
