Thank you for supporting my art.

I wrote this little slice of Americana 9 years before I even recorded a proper version in 1986. I never had a proper last verse either. I would take the first two lines of the first verse and the last two lines of the second verse to create a third verse. I could never think of one that sounded right. But here, 34 years later, I finally wrote the last verse. So here is the song and a brand new recording. I wrote it for my wife Nina, who was my girlfriend at the time, and to whom I am still married by the way.

What's A Man To Do? (Nina's Song)
Words and music by Paul Bradford
Now I have to choose again
All I do is lose again
I never tried to be one way
I don't think I'll see the day
What's A Man to do?
Still in love with you
Of all the millions of lives
You had to walk into mine
Caught up in a fog again
Just a sleeping log again
I weaken when I see your smile
Will you let me stay awhile girl?
What's A Man to do?
Still in love with you
Of all the millions of lives
You had to walk into mine
Yes!
Now the years have come and gone
It's still you I lean upon
You remain, through joy and strife
The shining diamond in my life
What's A Man to do?
Mystified by you now
Of all the millions of lives
You had to walk into mine
What's A Man to do?
Still in love with you now
Of all the millions of lives
You had to walk into mine
Of all the millions of lives
You had to walk into mine
You had to walk into mine
You had to walk into mine

ha!i liked your mail about the ``can``word.in the also means in jail right?heh heh.

  • hi Paul. real nice lead work in there. my favorite repeating line is, "Of all the millions of lives

You had to walk into mine", that third verse works really well, and of course you wouldn't be using that example so many years ago. in my opinion, this is among your best examples of original song writing craftmanship. cool song and performance. be well, chuck. ps. i don't know why, but YT never notified me of this one. i had to surf your channel to find it.

  • I can relate so well with the words when you write a song. How cool that you wrote this for your wife Nina who was just your girl at the time. It's a love story for the ages. ;)) Keep rocking our worlds at the old batcave my bro Paul! :)

  • Wow how cool. 34 years later finally finished this song? It shows to never give up on a song. :) This song has a great western feel to it Paul no wonder I see all those cool wild west scenes the beautiful cowgirls ridin the prarie. ;) The lyrics are so fabulous so cool,it's a fantastic love song, love the way you rhyme and tell a story, one of the best at it! :)) Your vocals rock, always loved them strong great rock voice who can sing any style. It's a gem alright my buddy! :)))

  • Hey Paul, this is beautiful. Sometimes songs take a few decades to age, like good wine. Third verse works great.
