  • nobody makes piston aero engines better than the Brits. sorry, used to. days gone by eh??

  • Furias has a 4360 as well.

  • Dreadnought has a P&W 4360. The engine mounts and cowling have had to be extended to accompany the larger engine... As far as I know it is the only 4360 powered sea fury in the world

  • September Fury actually did not have the Centaurus engine. It had an obnoxiously tweaked Wright R-3350.

  • @ste309w simple: 10 more cyl , about 1500 more horses. Well over 1.11 hp/lb (stock) power to weight ratio for the R4360 as for the Centaurus about 0.94hp/lp (stock). Keep in in mind that these aren't exact figures because many variants have been produced of both engines. Based on the fact that these engines are used at Reno, like in Dreadnought (R4360) or September Fury (Centaur) they are likely not stock anymore. I hope this answers your question more or less ;-)

  • Why did they replace the Bristol Centaurus? Must be agood reason, not criticising or anything, just like to what?

  • gnarly sound
