Leon, I have watched you all your life and mine. I've always been overwhelmed to hear you pick. The thing that sets you apart from most other pickers is your love for the Lord. Most real pickers have a hard time finding a hat to fit their head but you give the Lord all the credit. Thats the thing that I admire about you the most the other thing being, there will never be another Leon Rhodes. The Lord surely broke the mold when He made you, sir.
Leon, Thank you for all those great years of some of the most wonderful music you rendered we the country fans to this day.
Your style of music is still reverred today by all of us country fans. Backing Ernest and letting go with those fantastic instrumentals with both the Big E and Buddy Charlton were and still are the best ever put out on vinyls and cd's today.
God Bless You and keep up the great work where ever you play......
met leon in nashville and him and i performed together on several songs. i play the guitar with only one hand due to polio. leon was so kind to me,took a picture with me that i will cherish. he still plays so good and clean, truly a pro. thanks leon. one arm guitarist kenny johnson
Leon Rhodes never cut an instrumental album on his own that I am aware. What a shame. If there is an album out there featuring just Leon Rhodes please post about it. One of the "less sung" guitar heroes of our era.
Leon is a legend for sure. I met him at the opry when I lived in Nashville in early 90's. I remember him telling me how his job was being elimitated at the Opry. Managment at the time was looking for a more modern sound. I was so mad because I loved his "sound" especially when he played the tic-tac bass and doubled Billy Linneman's bass lines. I hope he's still doing well.
Leon, You are soooo cool. It was such a pleasure to meet you and a bigger pleasure to know you. Also your wife makes the BEST pasta salad I have ever had. See ya soon. Frank "The cable guy"
