Pendleton, Indiana was once again in a "Halloween State of Mind"

Pendleton, Indiana -- Once again area residents and other organizations pulled out all the stops this Halloween. If prizes were given for the best decorated house or Halloween theme one would have a hard time deciding on a winner.

I took to the streets this year, not only to check out some of the area homes but also see if I could find out what the "Hot Candy" was for Halloween 2011.

My first stop was at the local fire station. They opted, primarily, for a red theme for their candy giveaway for the Trick or Treaters. That only seems fitting for a Fire Department now doesn't it?

I then talked with Chet Babb who is running for the local Town Council. Rather tan envelopes with money in them they opted to go with a wide assortment of candy. Kind of sounds like a politician; give something to everybody.

My next stop was down at the local police station. Chief Marc Farrer pulled no punches in declaring chocolate the top dog when it comes to candy for Halloween. However, just to be on the safe side they too stocked up on some other things in case there was someone in the crowd that wasn't a chocolate fan.
Pretty much everywhere else I stopped the rule was an assortment of candy doe the ghosts, goblins, and ghosts of the night. Maybe that was because those that had entered adulthood at lost touch with what kids truly like. That happens to some of us you know.

On down into Pendleton, in front of Gathering Grounds Coffee shop, there was one group that must have cornered the candy market given the boat-loads they where handing out.

The rest of Halloween evening was touring Pendleton to check out some of the Halloween themes in the area. I don't know, maybe there's a friendly competition going on between those that live on State Street and Broadway in town? Historically, Broadway is known as the "Halloween Happening Place" here but the folks on State Street gave them a run for their decorating dollars this year.

Hope to see you in Pendleton, Indiana next Halloween!
