Sally Harmon plays as I show photos from my yard. An ice storm hit home on the evening of January 26th. It sleeted, rained and snowed for about 36 hours. We had mostly freezing rain. All photos are from my yard. My oak, pecan, redbud, dogwood, cedar and maple trees took a beating, but I had no structural damage. (Except for my mailbox getting run over. It was smashed so flat, I had a hard time getting four letters out of it. I am glad I checked before I discarded the mailbox. It contained tax info that I need to file income taxes.) The power has been off for five days and counting, but many areas in the midwest had it worse than here in southeast Missouri. Just down the street on the 'main road' power lines are still laying across people's driveways. Morning Has Broken and Amazing Grace are appropriate songs for our struggle. God bless you, wherever you are!!!

  • It was beautiful to look at but that was only temporary what made everything so bad, was fixing everything, clearing roads, we went 7 days without power until some friends came and picked us up, it was just my father and i curled into a ball, under like 8 blankets cause our heater was broke and a tree limb went through a window in the back of the house. It was not a fun time but we survived, but thats more than what i can say for some people over 30 elderly died cause they froze couldnt get out

  • @rockerz4ever Sorry you had such a bad time without heat. It did take forever to clean up the mess it seemed.

  • WOW, talk about ice!!! Amazing!

  • Thanks for watching! I liked the way you did your vid each day!!!

  • I'm glad I'm not there right now. I don't really like snow and cold.. but it is kinda beautiful and cool to look at!

  • it wasnt beautiful to live through though i got my very first nose bleed then because we all had to pull mattresses into the front room around a kerosene heater with the dogs curled up next to us we did this for a few days then finally decided to go and try to find a hotel somewhere the closest place we could find was almost a hundred miles or so away in ozora missouri

  • Such a disaster. I went without power for almost 3 weeks and without internet for 3 1/2 weeks. I'm in Malden, MO.

  • great job with the vid. Sorry to hear about the power. I went 2 nights without power, 5 without cable/internet, so I feel for you all. Lots of my friends still dont have power and most of the people on my UPS route yesterday didnt have power also. Thank goodness for my fire place and gas grill. Im so lucky!!! Good luck.
