wow what a waste of energy, you do know that only one person could have done that in less then a minute. like most ppl you try to work around 220 or 110 VAC, instead of useing an electric kettle, a simple dead short of AC would have boiled a cup of water in less then a minute. i am able to light my whole house and have cieling fans in each room, and run all of them for 3 days off just one 100AH 12VDC car battery, How? I dont use inverters and wasteful CFB. or any transformers.

lol... the definition of a calorie is the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1 °C
yeah..no wonder it takes so much human power. but then watch a fresnel lens boil a cup of water...

What's the mechanical input in watts or HP?
What's the system efficiency? About 50%?
Actual power to the 1 KW kettle? About 500 Watts?
5 min seems like a long time to boil 8 oz of water.
Ever try 11 Pro cyclists generating 6 HP at the pedals?
At 50 % EFF that's 3 HP or 2.2 KW at the kettle.
Get a more powerful kettle, maybe 1-2 min to boil!
