When people associated with Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) do things semi-sort-of approaching the lower end of what you'll see in this video (e.g., when Chuang Kuo-jung [莊國榮] insinuated that Ma Ying-jeou's father was incestuous), the media flails them until they either step down or are forced out of their positions.

Let's examine these examples of behavior by the people who won the recent legislative and presidential elections supposedly because they were "so much better" than the DPP.

1) Chiu Yi (邱毅). On the night of the loss of the 2004 presidential election by the Chinese KMT/People First Party (pan-blue) ticket of Lien Chan (連戰) and James Soong (宋楚瑜), Chiu took a campaign truck and hordes of pan-blue supporters to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors' Office, and crashed into the gate, injuring several policemen. To this day, Chiu Yi is their hero.

2) During the "National Day" event on October 10, 2006, Chinese KMT legislator Liu Wen-hsiung (劉文雄), wearing red in a show of solidarity with Shih Ming-teh's (施明德) "redshirt army" (紅衫軍), ran amok while the honor guard paraded before the reviewing stands. 3) Wu Yu-sheng (吳育昇) chaired a meeting in the Legislative Yuan (LY) during which he asked the media to leave for 10 minutes, promising that he would have a "satisfactory answer" for them when they returned. DPP legislator Chiu Yi-ying (邱議瑩) pressed Wu for an answer to whether he got his "satisfactory answer" or not, and he replied with something that comes across pretty much like "Who the fuck are you that you expect me to answer your question?" (literally: What kind of *thing* are you...?)

4) Hung Hsiu-chu (洪秀柱) is seen in the LY yelling in Taiwanese, "My goddamned tits are bigger than your balls!"

5) Chinese KMT caucus whip Lin Yi-shih (林益世) -- married to TTV anchor Peng Ai-chia (彭愛佳) (Don't expect too much criticism from that station!) -- shouts "Frank Hsieh (謝長廷) and Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) 'did it' like fucking pigs!"

6) Wu Yu-sheng, again, saying, "Legal threats are reasonable!"

7) Chang Hsien-yao (張顯耀) says, "Minister, you are impotent!"

8) Chinese KMT spokesman Alex Tsai (蔡正元) calls Mainland Affairs Council chairman Chen Ming-tong (陳明通) "trash" using the Taiwanese term "kio gah."

9 ) Chinese KMT legislator Lee Chia-chin (李嘉進) screams "I told you not to talk!" at National Youth Commission Chairwoman Cheng Li-chun (鄭麗君) during a question-and-answer session in the legislature's Education and Culture Committee on November 22, 2007.

That's not all he said that day. Some of the other stuff may even seem complimentary without context, but the worst part was uttered at a low volume:

During the session on Thursday, Lee questioned Cheng on the differences between the average salaries for college graduates in Taiwan and South Korea.

When Cheng told him that South Korean graduates earn only about one-and-a-half times what their counterparts receive in Taiwan, Lee became angry and interrupted her several times.

"It's a pity that *a pretty young woman like you* has learned all of the DPP's tricks. *You are very disgraceful*," Lee said to Cheng.

*The 39-year-old chairwoman urged the lawmaker not to judge her by her appearance*, but *Lee ordered that Cheng be expelled* from the meeting.

He then said under his breath: "I feel *fucking sick* when I see someone like this."

10) Chinese KMT legislator Alex Fai (費鴻泰) yells "Minister! You fucking bastard!"

The text at the end of the commercial says: "This is what their opposition looks like, and their power is still not enough for them. Use your vote to counterbalance the single-party hegemony of the KMT."

  • Do some of you people in taiwan consider yourself not chinese? Did your ancestors not come from provinces in mainland china? Don't forget your roots

  • @blueice990 Do some of you Chinese people in Australia consider yourselves not African? Didn't the ancestors of every last one of us originate in Africa? Don't forget your roots! ;-)

But seriously, can you understand that ethnicity and nationality are two different things?

  • @TimMaddog I guess CHINESE people around the world never forget their heritage, unlike some of you 台把子.

  • @blueice990 Thanks for demonstrating the mentality which is so prevalent among those who make such comments on videos like mine.

  • @TimMaddog Are you upset?

  • @blueice990 Actually, it's quite amusing to see this same kind of comment again and again and again from the anti-Taiwan crowd.
