Video tutorial (part 1) about datacommunication technology from the 70's by Tektronix. I went through this one during my classes as a GPID sales engineer in Wilsonville Oregon. Impossible to know back then that technology would evolve at such a tremendous fast pace. I enjoyed working for Tektronix; great company unfortunately bought by Xerox (the GPID division that created the all famous Phaser printers)

  • I have to ask the person who posted this video---(A) why did you save this video for so long and (B) what possessed you to not only digitize it, but post it to YouTube?

  • Isn't it amazing how technology has evolved ? If I talk to my son about RS232 & modems he just can't believe me! I think it is some kind of heritage we all should be aware of in these days of broadband, 3G etc so Youtube seemed a good medium to me. After all it doens not reveal any company secrets. On top of it look at it as a tribute to a great company I loved working for, I the very best souvenirs from my staying at Wilsonville(OR).

  • Worked for Tek for 10 years. Best job I ever had. Phila field office 79-89.. Level 2 tech

  • I was in the Belgian sales office for GPID 87-91; had the time of my life with Tek

  • Thank you very much for uploading this. Even if I was born around the time this video was recorded, it still gives me a nostalgic feeling... those were great times. Thanks again.

  • Great video, I always like to watch these oldies... Tektronix rules:)

  • I wish i 've worked for Tek ever... but i was born on the other side of the wall... on dark side... so the tektronix equipment was some kind of unreachable thing like a car or travelling...

But in the late '80 (around 87-88-89) i used some tek oscilloscopes! Tek scopes are perfect! Thanks for posting!

  • Gotta find my bell bottoms.

  • I was part of the video crew that produced this (in house). Holds together better than I recall. Those were great times.
