I remember hearing this song on the radio when i was 4 or so and my mom would always sing along with it, and about a year later she was killed in a car accident, and my dad chose this song to play at the funeral. This is a powerful song either way, and vedders singing on it is simply tearjerking. Im glad you put it on your page

This song wasn't originally done or written by Pearl Jam. The original is by Wayne Cochran. This is a cover as well as the J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers version. Although this is a great song the two older versions are much better in my opinion. I grew up listening to the older cover by J Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers. I personally think the faster cover done in the late 50's was much better than this one in the versatility it shows off with the the vocals and backing instruments.
