I watched the uk version of "This is Your Life" dedicated to Muhammad Ali. Wilma was invited to tell some funny stories of him when they returned from Rome. What a stunning woman.

@Hot58Rod , As a child she suffered from scarlet fever, double pneumonia and polio, so she did overcome a lot of sickness, she was only 4 1/2 lbs at her (premature) birth. She had to wear a leg brace because of the polio when she was 6. but by 11 yrs old she had worked to overcame her disability, was able to threw away the brace and orthopedic shoes, went on to become a star athelete. Great athelete.

Wilma Rudolph for my money is the best athlete there ever was.
She was so elegant and strong and above all else what I really admire about her was that she triumphed over such adversity.
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't she nicknamed the black gazelle for her running stance.
God bless you Wilma.
When I next visit the USA i will try to visit your great statue in honour of you in Clarksville.
