  • ur foot was not turned out

  • In ballet, your back is still supposed to be lifted when you go into a penchee. The title is a little deceiving, I was expecting the ballet twist on the penchee, not the gymnastic kind. :) But still very lovely, nevertheless.

  • @MrKLT1945 I agree with you, I'm a ballet dancer! :)

  • Excellente gymnaste de compétitions

  • Don't see logic in yr 1st sentence! I'm only a retired Royal Ballet dancer who then trained 4 yrs as a teacher (2 of my pupils dance in RB) & I also won awards for floors I choreoegraphed for int'l gymnasts. What I claim is the FACT that classical ballet training being so different it is wrong to give non-ballet stuff classical terms, which imply they are being done balletically when they are completely different. None of this doesn't mean I don't like/ appreciate gymnastics, far from it.

  • @MrKLT1945 You have a pretty bad inferiority complex. I've been a gymnast and taken ballet for 14 years and I love them both. I hate it when people on either side claim that they're better and their sport is harder blah blah blah whatever, it's not. But claiming that a pirouette or an arabesque is a completely different thing because one is done on the floor and one is done on a beam is stupid. Stop.

  • @xylophone Yeah, we all know they are totally different but claIming ballet terms for non-balletic stuff is plain dumb. Would I claim a cartwheel as a mix of port de bras and grand rond de jambe? NO! Gymnasts who know nothing about ballet technique but persist in demonstrating 'ballet' are the ppl who should get over themselves and stop trying to claim skills they do not have. Their own - dangerous - sport, with its specific language, is hard enough. BTW tips of pointe shoes are TINY.

  • To all of you being obnoxious, different sports re appropriate terms all the time. You don't see basketball players getting pissed at soccer players for using the term dribble because it's basic concept. Same goes for ballet and gymnastics... technique is tweaked based on the specific demands of the sport, neither is better than the other.

  • @MrKLT1945 Haha okay, let's see you do any of your superior, incredible ballet technique on a four inch wide beam or after doing a 5 skill tumbling pass. Get over yourself, they are different sports, they use different techniques.

  • holy crap!!
