  • I still miss radio news... Though I never trusted the computer system and always printed a hard copy of my scripts before each update... I see Steve and Wayne opening and closing their mics, but I can't tell by these shots if they fire off all the sounders/sports/etc on their own. Is there a producer handling audio outside of the camera's view?

  • Steve and Wayne and all of the 880 anchors run their own boards. I was impressed to see that the soundbites during news stories are activated right on the computer screen in the script. The main sounders and themes are their own buttons on the board (the yellow buttons under the clock). The other buttons below those are mainly used for live reporters, traffic, weather, sports, etc.

It's a lot to pay attention to! Steve and Wayne are real pros, though. Very nice guys, too.

  • @QCnewsmusic I'm in NYS, about 20 min south of Cornwall, ON, and on good nights I can get WCBS on my car radio.

  • I appreciate being able to enjoy this video.

One thing, which has nothing to do with "NewsByte," is that I hate WCBS' music package they've been using lately. It's the same package they've been using at WTOP, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. A few years ago WCBS had a superb package, but now, well, I guess things just change.

    Thanks again for the video.

  • I used to love listening to Steve and Wayne and the World News Roundup at 7 ET on my way home from work. I live in Canada though, and as of this past Friday CBS has blocked all access that was still open to their news stations from outside the US.

  • I am limo driver and can't see myself driving around the tri-state area without listening to wcbs-880. I love so much this radio that when I went back to my native country last year, Brazil, I taught English and was always listening to the radio, through the internet, in the classroom, to give my students a feeling of what it is like to listen to live radio from New York. You guys are the best!

  • always been a fan of wcbs 8-80, even if I'm upnorth in Canada. Thanks for sharing!
