An amazing exercise in minimalist filmmaking, "The Hunter" tells the story of an Iranian man who learns that his wife and child were killed during the election violence of the past year. In his rage, the widower seeks revenge by turning his hunting rifle on the cops who killed his family. This tale of sniper examines the relationship between the Iranian people and their government in a engrossing and dramatic way. Emotionally taut, the film has earned great praise for its timely message and top-notch craftsmanship. Directed by Rafi Pitts.
