Europe is a continent with alot of atheism. Atleast here in Sweden 80% of the population are atheists. And religion education here is more like knowledge about other religions. We dont get inspired to become religious. We just need to be aware of the world religions and how to meet them. Religion in America and Europe is completely different things. I dont think we are that religious. Perhaps the biggest religion over here is Islam these days.

Im not getting how providing medical care for all and providing welfare for those who cant provide for themselves is turning people away from religion.

"people that understand europe don't want it".... who are you to make such a statement? If you want to express the reasons why you don't like europe do it, but do not believe that other's people reasons are worth less. That would be an arrogant assumption.
