Hey, Plex here, and today I'm showing you how to make urns. :)
Urns are a type of pot that can be made using the crafting skill. They were released on 15 February 2011 and were first mentioned in the February 2011 Behind the Scenes article. While training fishing, mining, smelting, cooking, or woodcutting, urns will "collect" scraps and eventually become full based on the experience gained from the activity. Once full, the urn can be teleported to Ernie for additional experience in the skill that was being trained. The amount of additional experience received from teleporting a full urn equates to exactly 20% of the experience used to fill the urn.
Urns filled by killing demonic creatures that drop ashes are treated a little differently, since the prayer experience is tied to the ashes themselves, rather than the activity of killing the monsters that drop them. The additional experience is still 20%. However, it is an increase over what players would receive if they simply scattered the ashes, rather than collecting them. Also, all the prayer experience is gained at the moment the urn is teleported, rather than as the ashes are collected.
To make any kind of urn the player must go to a Pottery wheel and use 2 pieces of soft clay on the potter's wheel. Players must then select a type of urn and craft it on the wheel to make a Urn (unf). The types of urns that players can craft depends on the player's crafting level. Urns that require a higher crafting level to create will catch scraps from higher level training activities. The Assist System can be used to craft urns that are above a players crafting level. Once a player has an Urn (unf), they can then use the urn on a pottery oven to make an Urn (nr). Players must then add a rune to the urn in order to use the urn to gain XP.
