If you can make a beat with Tom Waits, you can do anything with this thing.

  • How does the MicroSampler fit for hip hop? I'm considering one, but theres not a lot of videos of it in the hip hop genre.. How does it fit for building intros etc etc..

    Very cool beat also :)

  • @christerPLG Hmmm...I'm not super into the sequencer, but I think I need to get over my MPC mentality. It can build intros just fine...too be totally honest, I rarely have the patience to sequence anything beyond four bars. I make short beats for kicks mostly. As far as hiphop goes, I think the microsampler is ideal for it. It lacks a ton of polyphony and hip hop is usually pretty simple that way. It is also great at pulling samples, and that is something that comes in handy for hiphop.

  • @christerPLG I post a lot more of my videos on the easymusiccenter channel. For easy sampling, the keygate function is hard to beat. I think that makes buying the unit worth it for that feature alone (you can hold down the keys while the record or sample is playing and it will record exactly what you hold the key down for. The sample will be assigned to that key for the exact amount of time you held down the key.)

  • @christerPLG I've managed to make some pretty solid hip-hop with the Microsampler. The main drawbacks are no swing quantization (except straight shuffle by using triplets) and no mute groups. Also the sequencer just layers everything on one track. Also there's no memory card slot, so once you've filled the 7 banks, you have to transfer it to your computer and empty them to make more stuff. It's decent for what it is, but it has some annoying limitations.

  • lol i like how the camera starts boppin too
