The legendary Chanel No.5 commercial directed by Ridley Scott in the early 1980s. Is that Leonard Nimoy whispering "share the fantasy"?

I remember this commercial as a child and I used to watch transfixed; as all of my senses took in everything . This commerical is a classic. They don't make commericals like that anymore.

Astonishing, beautiful, ethereal; after all these years it still sends chills up my spine.

Could the lady's voiceover be that of the late Julie London? Could the guy be Tim Donnelly?

In the late 70s and early 80s I remember you'd see 100 bland, fast, shouting, meaningless ads in a row, and then out of nowhere there'd be one that was imaginative, evocative, perfectly visually composed with a sublime "gliding" movement and pace to it. Nine times out of ten it would turn out to be Ridley Scott.

You're so right! My sentiments exactly. I was a young teenager in the mid-80s, and I remember how every single Chanel ad would just stick out and put everything else to shame -- the music, the mood, the imagery. (And when I then first smelled No. 5, I understood what luxury smells like. It matches the opulent ad campaign perfectly.)

I think Vangelis and Ridley Scott worked together again for the movie Blade Runner
