This is a trailer for the ill-fated first-person, squad-based X-COM game that was gutted and became the craptacular X-COM: Enforcer. I found it on an X-COM collector's edition CD.

weird, i remembered buying a game of x-com being a first-person-shooter, like this one, but everyone said it got cancelled

When this game got canceled, they all the work done to some shovelware outfit who produced "X-COM: Enforcer." It was an awful game that had practically nothing to do with the series and had none of the novel ideas from Alliance.

Because the 1998 beta was nothing like that.

@TheBetaTube Some files in the leaked 1998 beta are from 1995. Crazy stuff, this game was like Duke Nukem Forever before Duke Nukem Forever.

@MGMan37 Yup it is, they were developing it on the Unreal engine at the same time that Unreal was being developed.

@Redgrant80 they should keep it as a modern/futuristic setting though. the 50s setting is just stupid. and there isnt really any base management, or interceptor mini-games. there is a research element, but its much more limited.
