The hanging leg raise is an advanced lower abdominal movement where an advanced understanding of human movement is beneficial. Most who are still beginners often attempt this movement without understanding some key elements.

  • @mjocs: And if your shoulders still hurt I'd recommend trying some AB slings that keeps your arms from being overhead. And if that's still an issue, regress to other lower abdominal exercises and focus on addressing your postural issues.

  • @escape889: A couple of possible issues 1) your thoracic spine may be too stiff, lacking extension, 2) your lats are tight, 3) you have excessive forward head posture. I recommend lying over a swiss ball (stomach up) to stretch the spine into extension; stretch your lats with an emphasis on keeping your chest sticking out; and be more aware of your posture by practicing keeping your cheek bones over your collar bones.

  • my shoulders are hurting when i do that, anyway to fix that?
