  • Wow it look so silly with miming

  • Does any one know the name of the actress in this clip?

  • Most of these 1940's music shorts were lip-synced. The music was recorded and then the band pantomimed to the play-back. The sycronization was not too great sometimes, but no one seemed to mind. It's the music that's important, plus the chance to see recording stars in action. Jimmy Rushing didn't play the sax. That was just to tie in the "dream sequence". This is from a three song set from Official Films with TAKE THE A TRAIN by the Delta Rhythm Boys, & YOUR FEETS TOO BIG by Fats Waller.

  • fat man and a little sax!

  • @CHMELNITSKI of course that's Jimmy Rushing's vocal.

  • That's "The Box" man.

  • Is that Jimmy Rushing's vocal? Jimmmy Rushing didn't play sax, but that could have been faked for this movie. Also, the voice doesn't fit the singer, but that could have been bad lip synching. Can anyone help figure this out?

Dig the slim, young Count Basie. In most pictures you see him as an older man. He was also a much better pianist that most people give him credit for.

  • yea man freddie green jo jones walter page all american rhythm section dont get any better

  • "Mr. Five by Five"

  • Freddie Green too !
