The Lemon demonstrates how single-payer health care systems have a lot in common with the failed economic systems of Soviet-era eastern Europe.

  • The Canadian system is great, as long as you do not get sick. The only reason my father got a hospital bed was because my sister worked at St. Micheal's Hospital in Toronto, she had to pull ropes.

  • Which is why in countries with socialized medicine, you can't get certain treatments after a certain age. Lovely.

  • You can bring up individual horror stories on both sides of the border - it's MEANINGLESS!

85% of Canadians are satisfied with their healthcare. If things were really as bad as this video portrays, don't you think there would be a uproar?

The fact is the US spends more (% of GDP) than ANY other developed nation AND the costs are rising out of control. You NEED some kind of reform.

  • so basically are u saying that the individuals who are featured here do not have a greivence against that canadian health care system. furthermore if individuals have the right to control over their bodies dont they also have responsibility for them? Doesnt freedom equal responsibity? Or are we as humans the property of the state? and if the canadian system works so well why does former PM of Canada Steven Harper not use it?

  • Excellent video.

  • The main problem with the U.S. system is the entire concept of health insurance. There is a limited supply of healthcare and a near fixed price for people with health insurance. Variety in prices establishes a triage, but will create competition, keeping prices down. Malpractice insurance is another factor, but not the current issue discussed. In other words, the socialization of health care is the problem.

  • "Profiteering U.S. doctors and insurers"? You must be joking. Politics are just another business, except it profits directly in creating problems, so they can campaign about them, and it loses its money like a crack addict. It is in the interest of "liberals" to push a single payer system because people will complain to them first to fix it, so they can be reelected.
