For the record the quran was first compiled in a physical form during the time of the first caliph Abu Bakr(RA). This original manuscript was entrusted to be kept by Hafsa(RA) one of the wives of the Prophet(PBUH).
In the time of the 3rd caliph Uthman(RA) due to stylistic differences that had arisen in various parts of the caliphate, multiple copies of the original manuscript were produced and distributed all over the caliphate.
Forgive me for any mistakes.
