The Beatles - Hare Krishna Mantra (Twickenham Rehearsals - Day 5)

Traditional Indian song arranged by Mukunda Das Adhikary and improvised by The Beatles at Twickenham Film Studios on 8th January 1969. The Beatles played this song in March 1968, when they were in Rishikesh to study meditation with the Marahishi Maheshi Yogi. During the song, Paul sings 'Well, if you're ready' on a rock'n'roll tune reminiscing "High School Confidential" (by Jerry Lee Lewis).

The Beatles are just jamming here, somewhat irreverently, inter twining the Hare Krishna mantra with someone they knew called Harry. John picked up from the airport in his ROlls Royce and hosted the Hare Krishna guru, Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada at his home in Ascot, Tittenhurst, for over two months, studying with him and learning from him, with George and Yoko present. There is a book about it.
