Test of the Blackmagic Design HDMI Intensity Pro with the Xbox 360 video game Battlefield Bad Company 2 (DEMO) at a resolution of 1920 x 1080i (interlaced).

The Blackmagic HDMI Intensity Pro supports HDMI in (source), HDMI out (for viewing on an external monitor / tv), along with a breakout cable for Analog input/output for Component, S-video, Composite Video, and RCA Left/Right Stereo Audio.

This card requires a spare PCI-e card on your Windows / Mac desktop computer. Can be used as an internal card, or used externally with a multiple drive RAID setup, or External enclosure (expensive).

PLEASE NOTE: This test was recorded using a single SDD, a mutliple disc RAID and/or dedicated FAST single drive is recommended!

Thoughts:

1. You really want to have a NEWER / fast desktop computer Windows / Mac with plenty of RAM and harddrive space if you are going to install this card internally in your computer.

2. You can use 3rd party software such as GraphEdit or VirtualDUB to record using different codecs (MPEG II) if you have a lower end computer, but the resolution (picture quality) will NOT be as good.

3. You cannot hear the audio while you are recording, unless you output via HDMI to another monitor or split the incoming; HDMI, Optical TOSlink, RCA Stereo audio prior to it going into the Intensity Pro.

  • so what i see the intensity pro is like the "hdmi splitter" so no need to buy extra hdmi splitters? please reply

  • @Ikeagames

The Intensity Pro can output the inputting signal via HDMI or through an analog connection using the breakout cable.

  • ok got my card working can record 720p but struggling with 1080 im using 2 raid 0 1tb drives after checking black magic speed test my drives transfer rate is olny 88mbps this is the problem shouldnt it be 120x or close on it doesnt seem to have sped up the drives by raid 0 em any feedback would be appreciated ta

  • @tonyyuille

If you have your OS, programs, or anything else on the RAID drives this can lead to a slowing down of the write/read speeds. In addition to doing any other activity while capturing.

You may want to consider adding additional drives for a x3 or x4 RAID setup in order to boost the read/write speeds of the RAID. If you are capturing uncompressed video at 1080 then, perhaps you should consider capturing compressed using the included MJPEG codec.

  • nice video i have this card set up my new pc running i7 windows 7 set up inputs and outputs hdmi downloaded latest drivers cant get any video output from x box any ideas anyone please

  • @tonyyuille

Make sure you have read the manual and have set up your console's resolution and the card's settings in the "Control Panel" to the SAME resolution/settings.

    Product Placement?

I highly doubt Blackmagic is "paying for exposure of their product" in this video.

It's pretty hard for someone to post a TEST, review, overview, of a product without specifically stating what the product is, and in this case it's a capture card.

    Would you rather they posted,

"here's a test of a capture card and a little review, but we won't tell you what it is or where you can get it."

    Duh.

  • The game has great graphics, what are you talking about?

  • What program do you use to record in 1080i...im using media express and i cant get a signal nor audio on hdmi but on 720 i get video but still no audio on my hdmi. And i cant get 1080i on component either.

  • Specs needed to record smooth?

  • Shit... $189.05

  • Oh wow this is beautiful. I was thinking of asking for the intensity for my brithday to hook up and record games. I definitely think I will get it now.

What are the specs on your PC how much ram do you have and what kind of CPU?

  • nahh i think HD PVR is better

  • I'm wondering if when you go through the BMIP does it output back to 1080p because I noticed on the website it says it can only capture up to 1080i which isn't an issue as long as I can still play games in 1080p while capturing. Please help.

  • yo will i be able to use this thing on a 1ghz pc?

  • @playinghalotoday thanks i did think another drive or 2 would help thanks for advise
