I love these two! they are amazing! I think it is great that they had an idea and went for it! who cares if it didn't work? at least they tried their best!

Don't laugh! maybe in 5 years they will be flying with the best. The Wright brothers started off with experiments as basic as this.

That was never going to work. You need an aeofoil shape - thick at the front, thinner at the back and you need it angled upwards to create some lift via a low pressure area that is created above the wing (the venturi effect). It'd probably take a lot of tweaking to get it working right.
Good effort tho!
