Improved quality of life, better access to medical care, an aging population these facts of life in the 21st Century apply to humans --- and to animals, particularly dogs. Similarities between naturally occurring animal and human cancers and their treatments offer researchers a chance to discover cancers secrets for the benefit of all species, including humans and the animals they love. Patients of the Ontario Veterinary College's Animal Cancer Centre part of the University of Guelphs Institute for Comparative Cancer Investigation provide a unique opportunity to generate research dedicated to new diagnostic procedures and therapies research that includes translational knowledge applicable to both human and animal cancers. One OVC client, Ruth, tells about her cancer experience with her briards Lily and Eva.
