As a broken-hearted Apollo calls down thunder and lightning to punish Kirk and his landing party, the Enterprise destroys Apollo's temple with its phasers (Who Mourns for Adonais?)
Man Let me tell you I felt this scene to my bones This was one of my favorite episodes!! Ha as a kid I use to run around with my hand over the front of the saucer section like I was Apollo Ha!
Thank goodness they had those big, sturdy, plastic rocks to hide behind while the Enterprise was firing - otherwise they might have been hit by pieces of glowy melty temple
I really liked this episode. this and "balance of terror" so far. they both had that quality where they run just as all the other episodes do, but when they finish, with no spectacularly unpredictable end, they leave you in a nice plaintive mood. the title works well.

@samhainaz no the episode is titled "who mourns for adonais?" adonais alludes to Shelley's elegy for Keats called "Adonais: somethingsomethigndgdng"
